When making this bracelet, I wanted it to be the way the USA flag should be. I made it so that it has exactly 50 stars and 13 stripes. Now, some people are sticklers for being exact on things, but you know, sometimes you just can’t be PERFECT.
I’m going to point out a few things in my description here, and it may upset some people. I’m an American TOO, and I didn’t appreciate what happened to my tester on this particular pattern.
The USA has been trying to make the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and Washington DC states for years. Although it hasn’t happened yet when someone not from this country works on a pattern, they don’t realize that to SOME Americans, their flag has to be perfect.
This happened with my tester for this pattern. She inadvertently put 51 stars on each half of the bracelet. Although I didn’t notice this right off the bat, I did notice it. I informed her privately about it, but also told her that I didn’t mind that she messed up a little bit, and didn’t think people would be so bold as to actually count the stars on the pattern.
You know, for being American, people need to realize that in some countries, some LITTLE things like one star wouldn’t be a problem. Here in America though, apparently it’s a BIG deal.
My tester went above and beyond after one person called her out on her post of the finished product. She went back and REDID the whole bracelet (both sections of it), just so that it had exactly 50 stars in the blue field.
To me, she was unjustly harassed by being told by this person that she needed to make it right. To me, she went above and beyond a tester when she redid the whole bracelet so that both blue sections had exactly 50 stars. To me, she is the perfect person to have testing patterns for me in the future.
Thank you, Teresa Walton, for doing a great job on this bracelet. You are the type of tester all of us need. Sure, you made a mistake on it, but hey, NO ONE is perfect. You don’t live in this country, and you didn’t even notice that the flag had 50 stars on it, or that your version of it had 51…LOL :). You were on a roll when making it, and I appreciate the fact that you even tested and photographed it for me. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
